DESCRIPTION:
WW - Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, ref 3590.50, circa 1990, manual wind, 42mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case, black tachymeter bezel, stainless steel 1479 bracelet signed Omega, original black dial with painted Omega logo and tritium painted indices, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J, cal 861, s#48263388, triple signed. Includes a period inner and outer box as well as a hang tag. The Omega Speedmaster was chosen by NASA in 1965 after outperforming numerous other contenders in rigorous testing. They were first issued during the Gemini program using the older straight lug style 105.002. More Speedmasters were thereafter purchased, and starting with the Apollo program, astronauts were being issued the "Professional" marked 105.012's in a beefier case with crown and pusher protectors as seen here. They remain flight qualified by NASA to this day and accompany astronauts to the ISS regularly. Modern interpretations of this watch are still in production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide to steelwork; flawless dial; nearly flawless hands with evenly faded luminous material; unpolished case shows very little wear, sharp lug chamfers and satin finishing, no dents or dings; original Omega crown shows hardly any wear; good plastic crystal.
